What Goes Into Firstmate Canned Food?
Firstmate canned food is made without thickeners such as guar gum, cassia gum, carrageenan and agar agar. This gives their canned pet food a softer, tender, and even silkier texture than the usual pate.
Manufactured in a human grade cannery, Firstmate only uses human grade meats like free run chicken and wild caught fish in their canned pet food, with no artificial preservatives or colourings.
Due to the lack of thickeners, a layer of moisture can usually be found around pate. This moisture contains healthy oils/fats, vitamins as well as proteins and nutrients that can be mixed into the pate.
Once mixed, Firstmate canned food usually takes on a mousse-like texture, the perfect texture for senior pets.
The absence of thickeners also helps aid your pet’s digestion. A great solution for pets suffering from a troubled tummy!

Firstmate dry dog food comes in a wide variety of variants; their 'All Life Stages' formulas come in 3 different flavours: Chicken, Lamb and Pacific Ocean Fish.
Each of these 'All Life Stages' formulas come in a Small Bites version too. Their small kibble size makes it easier for small and toy breeds to eat.
Firstmate only has two life stage-specific dry dog food formulas: Puppy and Senior. Firstmate's Senior formula can also be fed to dogs having trouble with weight management.
