Annamaet was founded in 1986 by Rob Downey and named after his mother, Anna Mae, who loved animals. Like his mum, Rob has always been passionate about animals, especially dogs and cats; he grew up with a kennel of dogs, and is now an avid dog sled racer. He has also spent many years studying cat & dog nutrition, writing articles, some of which has been published in veterinary journals. In addition to Rob’s expertise in pet nutrition, Annamaet also has a board certified Veterinary Nutritionist.



Rob feeds his 14 dogs every day before he goes to work, so you can be sure he’s feeding the same food your pet is eating when you feed Annamaet. As the President of Annamaet, Rob knows that pet owners are willing to invest in their pet’s health, and one of the best ways to do so is to feed a high quality pet food.

Annamaet does not use Corn, Wheat and Soy in any of their formulas; these are common allergens among pets. In fact, they are one of the few pet food brands that use Chelated Minerals and Algae in all their formulas. Chelated Minerals are minerals which can better strengthen the immune system as they are better utilised and absorbed by your pet’s body. Algae is a stable and sustainable natural ingredient that is an excellent source of Omega 3 Fatty Acids, which can help with skin and gastrointestinal issues.
